PowerStar water heaters bring the performance of tankless models to situations where an electric unit is preferred. Compact and powerful, the AE125 can supply enough hot water to support one major application.

Electric tankless water heater; for climates with annual groundwater temperature below 60 degrees Fahrenheit

Provides 4 gallons of hot water per minute; average energy-efficiency rating of 94

Includes solid-copper heat exchanger

Includes one water heater

15-1/2 by 15-1/4 by 4-1/2 inches; 22 pounds; 10-year limited warranty on heat exchanger; 1-year on parts

It delivers hot water based upon a system that measures the incoming water temperature and flow rate and then “calculates” the number of elements (it actually has 6) that it turns on to provide an outflow temperature based on the setting of the temperature control. This system is not satisfactory for a water supply which varies in pressure, SUCH AS A WELL, as the unit itself provides substantial resistance to flow and thus the flow rate through the unit varies and thus the temperature of the outgoing water. This causes the delivered water to vary widely in temperature, from VERY HOT to VERY COLD. The unit would be improved if it was “smart enough” to not only measure incoming temp, but, also, outgoing temperature and flow rate and maintain the outgoing temp at a constant level.

The unit has a flow sensor, which will shut the heaters off at low flow, so, therefore, if you wish to have a small amount of hot water flowing into your sink for shaving purposes, the water will not be heated at all. This “Feature” also has considerable influence on the use of “low flow” faucets.

The unit apparently switches one or more of its six elements on or off as it attempts to heat the water. There does not appear to be any partially on for any of the elements. This leads to the problem of “stepped” heating of the water. And because the unit measures flow in and calculates the outgoing rate, if the water is mildly too hot or too cold, simply changing the mix at the faucet does not necessarily result in mild changes in temperature, a tiny change at the faucet can cause one or all of the elements to switch off resulting in a dramatic change at the faucet. AGAIN an argument for sensing the outgoing temperature and maintaining it by modulating the elements for a smoother temperature curve.

Bosch GL2.5 Ariston 2-1/2-Gallon Point-of-Use Indoor Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater

Installing an Ariston electric mini-tank water heater under the sink puts hot water right where you need it at the point-of-use. Lightweight and compact this heater is available in three space-saving sizes: 2.5, 4, and 6+ gallons. These heaters are aesthetic on the outside, glass-lined on the inside, and offer superior insulation for higher efficiency.

Stores up to 2.5 gallons of water to supply hot water for a single sink

Easy, space-saving installation and draws power from standard outlet

Works independently or in line with a larger water-heating system

Glass-lined tank for longer life

Dimensions: 14-by-14 by-10-1/4-inches; Weight: 16 pounds; Electrical: 120 volts, 1500 watts

It is very easy to install and will fit in your kitchen cabinet. More challenging might be having an electrical outlet that can be dedicated to the water heater, which takes 1500 watts, and will certainly blow your circuit every time if you try to combine it with a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, or anything else “thirsty” (most things are) in the kitchen.

The Stiebel Eltron Tempra 24 electric tankless water heater is designed to replace an electric storage tank heater. Provides up to 4.10 gallons per minute (40 degree temp rise) for water usage at 105° F: 2 sinks or 1 shower.The TempraTM has several advantages over a gas-type tankless water heater. Compared to many similar gas tankless models the TempraTM is less expensive to purchase. Installation is also much simpler and cheaper since it is not necessary to vent a TempraTM to the outside. The venting that a gas unit requires causes anywhere from a 10 – 20% efficiency reduction from heat escaping out the exhaust pipe. Furthermore, for every cubic foot of gas burned, two cubic feet of air have to be mixed in to create ideal combustion. In a cold climate, this hurts efficiency further. When a gas unit fires, it draws in air around it, heats the water, and then expels warm exhaust outside. Since no house is airtight, this suction action causes a drafting condition where cold air from the outside seeps back in through door cracks and other parts of the house that may not be airtight. By nature of the design, the TempraTM is nearly 100% efficient; converting 100% of the electrical energy it consumes into heat. All that heat is then transferred to the water – none is lost to the outdoors.

* Requires 2 independent 240V AC circuits protected by 2 separate and independent 60 amp double pole breakers (120 Total Amps). Minimum recommended electrical service is 180 amps

  I am a 100% do-it-your-selfer and believe me, this tankless water heater was simple to install and connect.

You can now throw away your storage water heater and replace it with tankless electric water heater and with it you get absolutely free 10-20% reduction in your energy bill. The savings come from the energy loss of stored water in a tank water heater. The savings become significant because on an average, water heating forms around 14 % of the average home energy budget.

Tankless water heaters provide hot water at a preset temperature when needed without storage, thereby reducing or eliminating standby losses. Tankless water heaters are rated by the maximum flow rate at which a desired temperature rise is met. Special features may allow the user to set the delivery temperature. Efficiency is higher than an equivalent tank type water heater because standby losses are virtually eliminated. Electric tankless water heaters require a relatively high electric power draw because water must be heated quickly to the desired temperature. Residential gas models are available that can heat more than five gallons per minute by 60°F, generally more than enough for two showers to be run simultaneously. Whole house electric units typically have a capacity closer to three gallons per minute.

Initial Cost

The installation costs of tankless water heaters are from 2 – 4 times higher than tank-type water heaters. For gas tankless hot water heaters, the same gas supply line and/or venting may need to be sized larger than for a typical gas tank. Electric tankless water heaters draw more power and will require multiple circuits and/or heavier cable, which will increase installation costs. Water connections for both are comparable or identical to those used on tank-type water heaters. In some cases, the temperature and pressure (T&P) valve necessary for tank systems may not be required for a tankless heater. (Check with your local code official)

Gas and electric whole-house tankless water heaters are more expensive than typical tank systems except when comparing to high efficiency tank systems. In these cases, the high efficiency tanks may be close in cost to the tankless systems.

Tankless water heaters range in price from $200 for a small under-sink unit up to $1200 for a gas-fired unit that delivers 5 gallons per minute. Typically, the more hot water the unit produces, the more it will cost.

Electric tankless water heaters generally cost 10-20% ($40 – $80/yr) less to operate than comparable tank-type water heaters. Gas savings may be about 20 -40% ($50-$100/yr). Equipment life may be longer than tank-type heaters because they are less subject to corrosion. Expected life of tankless water heaters is 20 years, compared with between 10 and 15 years for tank-type water heaters.

Tankless water heaters are compact in size and virtually eliminate standby losses. They can provide warm water at remote points of use and less water is wasted while waiting for warm water to reach a remote faucet. A tankless water heater can provide unlimited hot water as long as it is operating within its capacity.

Equipment life may be longer than tank-type heaters because less subject to corrosion. Expected life of tankless water heaters is 20 years, compared with between 10 and 15 years for tank-type water heaters.

Welcome to Tanklesselectricwaterheater.info. Your one stop information website for Tankless Electric Water Heater. A Tankless water heater gives hot water when required. As the name says it does not store water. main benefiit of tankless water heaters over storage water heaters is that since only the required amount of water is heated, there is no energy wastage whereas by there very nature, the storage water heaters lead to a waste of lot of energy as stagnant water keeps losing heat. It is similar to heating your house when required.

Tankless Electric Water heaters run on a different principle than a storage water heater. The cold water runs through a pipe when the tap is turned on for hot water. The electric elements inside the water heater heat the water on the fly and out of the tap you get hot water. Typically, you will get instant hot water supply as the heating elements are very strong.
The usual rate of supply of tankless electric water heaters is around 7 – 15 litres per minute. Usually, gas fired tankless water heaters will provide hot water at a comparitively higher rate. The capacity of the tankless hot water heater should be as taken as per the requirement in ones house. The smaller tankless electric water heater will not be able to provide hot water for the entire household. Therefore, it is much better too have an electric water heater at every point of use in the house. With one tankless electric water heater, you will not be able to enjoy hot water in the shower as well as in teh washing machine. You cna then get a big tankless water heater for the whole house though it is preferable to have multiple tankless water heaters at multiple points of use.

Amoongs the other uses of a tankless water heater, it can be used in the pool shower, in remote bathroooms, in an outdoor sink or as a booster in solar water heating systems. For homes that use 41 gallons or less of hot water daily, Tankless Water Heaters can be 24% – 34% more energy efficient than conventional storage tank water heaters. They can be 8% – 14% more energy efficient for homes that use a lot of hot water, around 86 gallons per day. You can achieve an even greater energy savings of 27% – 50% if you install a Tankless Water Heater at each hot water outlet.

If you plan to purchase an Electric Tankless Water Heater, consider the Electrical Requirements:

    * Voltage
    * Amperage
    * Circuit Breaker

Voltage

Many retailers sell units that will accommodate 110V, 120V, 208V, 220V, 240V, and 277V.

Amperage

Different Electric Tankless Water Heaters will have various requirements in amp draw. You will want to ensure that you can support the electrical demands of your Electric Tankless Water Heater.

Circuit Breaker

You must ensure that you have a circuit or circuits that will support your Electric Tankless Water Heater. It may be necessary to put your Electric Tankless Water Heater on its own circuit or circuits.

You should consult with a qualified, licensed electrician for more information.
